This week we’re revisiting three of the headline films from last night’s Academy Awards. If you missed this year’s winners in the cinema – or would simply like to experience them again – this is your week.

Experience for yourself what makes these films worthy of their accolades by seeing them on the big screen here at Cottage Road Cinema.

One Battle After Another

First up is Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-thriller One Battle After Another. When their enemy resurfaces after sixteen years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own.

The film picked up six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, along with honours for Paul Thomas Anderson (Directing and Adapted Screenplay), Sean Penn (Supporting Actor), Cassandra Kulukundis (Casting) and Andy Jurgensen (Editing).

Showing tonight, Monday 16 March at 7:15pm.

Sinners

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners screens Tuesday 17 March at 7:30pm, fresh from winning four Academy Awards: Michael B. Jordan (Leading Actor), Autumn Durald Arkapaw (Cinematography), Ludwig Göransson (Original Score) and Ryan Coogler (Original Screenplay).

Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their Mississippi hometown to start again – only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Hamnet

Finally, Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet, showing Thursday 19 March at 4:20pm.

William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes celebrate the birth of their son, Hamnet. But when tragedy strikes and the young boy dies, the loss inspires Shakespeare to write his timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.

We hope to see you at the cinema soon.
